The draw for the second round of the Capital One Cup was made on Thursday night, with Everton handed a trip to Barnsley.

The draw, made live on Sky Sports News HQ following Doncaster's penalty shoot-out win over Leeds, included the 12 Premier League clubs not involved in Europe this season.

Everton, looking to win the League Cup for the first time in their history, will begin their quest for Wembley glory with a visit to Oakwell to play Lee Johnson's Tykes in the week starting Monday, August 24.

The Toffees, who have twice been runners-up in the competition, must tackle the Sky Bet League One side that ousted Scunthorpe on Tuesday night, while 2013 winners Swansea welcome League Two outfit York to the Liberty Stadium.

Stoke are also meeting fourth-tier opposition when they visit Luton, while Northampton travel to Newcastle and Exeter will play Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

Sheffield United, who were semi-finalists in the competition last season, will make the trip to the capital to take on Fulham.
