Atletico Madrid’s Wanda Metropolitano stadium will host the 2019 Champions League final.

Madrid was chosen ahead of Baku, the only other candidate in the running to stage the match.

Baku's Olympic Stadium will instead stage the Europa League final, while the Besiktas Stadium in Istanbul will stage that year's Super Cup.

Atletico moved into their new 68,000-seater home for the new La Liga campaign and beat Malaga 1-0 there on Saturday, with Antoine Griezmann scoring the winner in the second half.

Diego Simeone's side have moved from the Vicente Calderon, with the name of the new stadium a nod to the past and the present.

The name for the new stadium comes from the investors - 'Wanda' - and also Atletico's first permanent stadium, the Stadium Metropolitano de Madrid, which they played in from 1923-66.
