Last season's Europa League finalists Marseille have been knocked out of this season's competition after a 2-1 defeat to Lazio.

Goals from Marco Parolo and Joaquin Correa in the Group H fixture were enough to extend a miserable run for the French side, who have now lost four games in a row in all competitions.

Lazio, meanwhile, went through to the last 32 along with Eintracht Frankfurt, who eliminated Apollon Limassol after a 3-2 victory in the other game in the section.

Olivier Giroud headed Chelsea into the Europa League knockout stages as they beat BATE Borisov 1-0 in Belarus while group-rivals Vidi kept their qualification hopes alive with a 1-0 home victory over PAOK Salonika.

Arsenal was held to a 0-0 home draw by Sporting Lisbon, seeing them through to the knockout rounds. Qarabag joined Vorskla on three points after winning their match 1-0.

Steven Gerrard's hopes of guiding Rangers out of Group G suffered a blow in a seven-goal thriller in Moscow, losing 4-3 to Spartak Moscow, which has allowed Villarreal to leap to the top of a now wide-open group with a 0-0 draw at Rapid Vienna.
