How did your Premier League players fare on international duty?


We take a look at how players from every Premier League club fared in the latest round of international fixtures.

With progress to Euro 2016 on the line and World Cup qualifiers taking place around the world, there were plenty of important goals scored along with some significant injuries.

Here's a round-up of how players from your Premier League team got on...


Santi Cazorla scored twice for Spain as they booked their place at the European Championship with a 4-0 win over Luxembourg. Cazorla was then an unused substitute as Vicente del Bosque's side sealed top spot in Group C with a 1-0 victory in Ukraine.

Olivier Giroud was also at the double for France in a 2-1 friendly victory over Denmark, while Theo Walcott made it seven goals in his last nine games with England's opener against Estonia.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also scored for the Three Lions as they made it 10 wins from 10 with a 3-0 win over Lithuania.

Alexis Sanchez continued his fine recent goalscoring form by netting in Chile's 2-0 World Cup qualifying win over Brazil and then scoring twice and grabbing an assist in a 4-3 victory over Peru.

Mesut Ozil set up the winner as Germany laboured to a 2-1 victory over Georgia in their final Euro 2016 qualifier while Joel Campbell scored the only goal of the game as Costa Rica beat USA 1-0 in a friendly.

David Ospina kept a clean sheet as Colombia beat Peru 2-0 but did not fare as well in Montevideo as Colombia lost 3-0 to Uruguay.

Petr Cech kept goal as the Czech Republic beat the Netherlands 3-2 in Amsterdam in their final qualifier on Tuesday to see the visitors top Group A.

Aaron Ramsey opened the scoring for Wales as they ended their Euro 2016 qualifying campaign by overcoming Andorra 2-0 at home on Tuesday evening.

Arsenal's Santi Cazorla scored twice as Spain beat Luxembourg 4-0

Aston Villa

USA 'keeper Brad Guzan was unable to stop Mexico winning 3-2 after extra time over the weekend - a result which means Mexico, not the US, will feature in the 2017 Confederations Cup. 

Carlos Sanchez played in Colombia's 2-0 victory over Peru and also their 3-0 loss to Uruguay.

Matt Ritchie scored a stunning goal against Poland, but it was in vain as Scotland's 2-2 draw meant they failed to qualify for Euro 2016. 

Joshua King came off the bench in both of Norway's two Euro 2016 qualifiers against Malta and Italy, while Adam Federici's Australia suffered a surprise 2-0 defeat to Jordan in World Cup 2018 qualifying.

Branislav Ivanovic pulled his hamstring in Serbia's European qualifier against Albania. The defender was withdrawn after 65 minutes and is now a doubt for Chelsea's next Premier League fixture against Aston Villa.

Nemanja Matic also limped off in Serbia's game with Albania but returned to face Portugal, only to be sent off late on in his country's 2-1 defeat.

Gary Cahill helped England keep a clean sheet in their win over Estonia, but was then left at home for the trip to Lithuania, with boss Roy Hodgson suggesting the artificial surface may worsen the defender's longstanding back problem.

Eden Hazard scored a penalty and missed one as Belgium booked their spot at Euro 2016 with a 4-1 win over Andorra, before also netting his country's third goal against Israel, while Cesc Fabregas missed his fourth regular-time spot kick in a row for Spain.

Asmir Begovic started in goal as Bosnia earned a crucial 3-2 win in Cyprus on Tuesday night, a victory that saw the visitors claim third place in Group B, and with it a play-off berth for Euro 2016.

Willian made it six goals in as many matches as he scored twice for Brazil in a 3-1 World Cup qualifying win over Venezuela.

Crystal Palace

Yohan Cabaye was among the scorers as France cruised to a 4-0 friendly win over Armenia. The midfielder curled in a fine effort from the edge of the box.

Goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey was celebrating with Joe Ledley on Saturday, despite defeat to Bosnia, as Wales qualified for Euro 2016, although only the former featured as Chris Coleman's side beat Andorra 2-0 on Tuesday.

Ross Barkley produced a man-of-the-match performance for England against Estonia, setting up the 2-0 win with a superb assist for Theo Walcott's opener.

And he followed it up with a goal against Lithuania as England made it 10 wins from 10 in qualifying.

Steven Naismith scored Scotland's final goal as they rounded off their qualifying campaign with a 6-0 win over Gibraltar.

Romelu Lukaku set up a goal in Belgium's 4-1 win over Andorra that secured their Euro 2016 qualification and also started in his country's 3-1 home win over Israel on Tuesday night.

Leicester City

Jamie Vardy stepped off the bench to set up England's second in their 2-0 win over Estonia, picking out Raheem Sterling with a smart square pass in the box.

Kasper Schmeichel returns to Leicester knowing he and his Denmark team-mates face a play-off to reach France 2016 after their defeat to Portugal allowed Albania to snatch second spot in Group I.

Full-back Christian Fuchs helped Austria to a clean sheet in a 3-0 win over Liechtenstein on Monday, having also played 90 minutes in the 3-2 win in Montenegro on Friday.

Andrej Kramaric came off the bench as Croatia beat Malta 1-0 on Tuesday night, a victory that saw his side claim the runners-up spot in Group H, and with it an automatic place at Euro 2016.

Joe Allen will be dreaming of next summer after Wales secured their place at France 2016 despite losing to Bosnia.

Adam Lallana played in England's 2-0 win over Estonia and was then named Terry Butcher's man of the match in the 3-0 victory over Lithuania.

James Milner and Nathaniel Clyne also featured against Estonia, while Mamadou Sakho played as France beat Armenia 4-0 in a friendly.

Simon Mignolet started in goal as Belgium beat Israel 3-1 in Brussels on Tuesday night, a victory that saw the home team top Group B and go to the head of the FIFA world rankings. Divock Origi came off the bench in the same match.

Manchester City

Sergio Aguero injured his left hamstring 22 minutes into Argentina's 2-0 defeat to Ecuador, with team-mate Nicolas Otamendi revealing he was in tears in the dressing room.

After scoring five in his last Premier League appearance, Aguero has been diagnosed with a grade two tear and he said afterwards that he expects to be out for around a month.

David Silva lasted even less time in Spain's European qualifier against Luxembourg, limping off nine minutes into the match with a sprain to a ligament in his right ankle. He could be out for two to three weeks.

Raheem Sterling was on target for England, tucking in from close range late on to seal a 2-0 win over Estonia.

Aleksandar Kolarov found the net for Serbia against Albania, helping his side to a 2-0 away win, and contributed an assist against Portugal - before being sent off for a second bookable offence.

Kevin De Bruyne scored in both Belgium's 4-1 win over Andorra on Sunday, as they sealed automatic qualification, and in their 3-1 victory against Israel two days later as his country sealed top spot in Group B.

Vincent Kompany started Belgium's final Group B qualifier at home to Israel on Tuesday, with the centre-back playing an hour before being substituted, as had already been agreed between club and country.

Manchester United

Anthony Martial and Morgan Schneiderlin played 90 minutes as France beat Denmark 2-1 in Copenhagen, with Martial setting up Olivier Giroud's opener.

Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick missed England's win over Estonia with injury and were left at home for the trip to Lithuania, but Three Lions boss Roy Hodgson says he fully expects both players to be "100 per cent" for United's game with Everton.

David de Gea said he is in the "best form of my career" after a fine display in Spain's 1-0 win over Ukraine.

Marouane Fellaini started as Belgium overcame Israel 3-1 at home on Tuesday night to help seal top spot in Group B.

The 24-year-old produced 10 fine saves as the holders ended their Euro 2016 qualifying campaign on a high in Kiev.

Bastian Schweinsteiger pulled out of Germany's match with Republic of Ireland in the warm-up with a thigh injury. Germany boss Joachim Low suggested after the game that Schweinsteiger should be okay after "two or three days".

Matteo Darmian helped Italy secure automatic qualification to Euro 2016 by scoring his first goal for his country with a drilled effort in their 3-1 win over Azerbaijan, before also starting in the Azzurri's 2-1 victory against Croatia that sealed top spot in the group.

Paddy McNair helped Northern Ireland finish top of their qualification group with a 3-1 win over Greece, followed by a 1-1 draw in Finland. However, the 20-year-old stayed overnight in a Helsinki hospital on Monday evening for treatment on an abdominal injury having been subbed off in the 51st minute.

Daley Blind and Memphis Depay both featured in the Netherlands' final game at home to the Czech Republic, although their presence was still not enough to prevent the Oranje from losing 3-2 as they failed to qualify for the Euros for the first time since 1984.

Newcastle United

Tim Krul was left "devastated" after suffering a season-ending cruciate knee ligament injury in Netherlands' 2-1 win over Kazakhstan. The 'keeper landed awkwardly towards the end of the match and will not play any further part in the current Premier League campaign.

Georginio Wijnaldum scored during the victory and also featured in his country's 3-2 loss against the Czech Republic that confirmed the Netherlands would not be at next summer's tournament.

Aleksandar Mitrovic led the line for Serbia in their 2-0 win over Albania, but was unable to prevent them suffering a 2-1 defeat at home to Portugal.  

Moussa Sissoko was a second-half substitute in France's 4-0 win over Armenia.

Chancel Mbemba helped Democratic Republic of Congo keep a clean sheet in their 2-0 friendly victory over Nigeria and then scored the winner in a 2-1 victory over Gabon.

Norwich City

Alex Tettey bundled in Norway's opener against Malta in their 2-0 win, before also opening the scoring in their crucial qualifier in Rome, only for the visitors to lose 2-1.

Kyle Lafferty, while not a goalscorer against Greece or Finland, was instrumental in helping Northern Ireland win their group and book their spot at Euro 2016.

The striker scored seven goals throughout the campaign, but admitted he might have to consider his future with the Canaries ahead of Euro 2016.

Defender Martin Olsson kept two clean sheets for Sweden, first in the 2-0 win in Liechtenstein, and then in the 2-0 home victory over Moldova.

Following Northern Ireland’s history-making achievement, Kyle Lafferty said he would like to draw Argentina or Brazil in Euro 2016


Shane Long scored a famous winner against Germany, but then went off injured against Poland as Republic of Ireland earned a play-off place for Euro 2016.

Steven Davis scored twice - including a long-range header - in Northern Ireland's 2-1 win over Greece, a result which assured them of automatic qualification to a major tournament for the first time since 1986. The Northern Ireland skipper then led his side to a draw in Finland to seal top spot in their group.

Jose Fonte got the better of Southampton team-mate Dusan Tadic on Sunday night. Fonte was at the heart of the Portugal defence as they rounded off their successful qualifying campaign with a 2-1 win over Serbia.

Virgil van Dijk started the Netherlands' must-win final qualifier against the Czech Republic on Tuesday night, but with the Oranje losing 3-2, the centre-back was substituted as the home side went in search of two goals to turn the game around.

Graziano Pelle scored a late winner to help Italy come from behind to beat Norway 2-1 in Rome on Tuesday, a victory that saw the home side top Group H.

Shane Long scored the winner as Republic of Ireland beat Germany 1-0

Stoke City

Goalkeeper Shay Given was carried off on a stretcher after injuring his knee taking a goal kick in Republic of Ireland's 1-0 win over Germany and is now a doubt for Stoke's clash with Swansea on Monday night.

Xherdan Shaqiri limped out of Switzerland's final training session ahead of their Euro 2016 qualifier with San Marino, but played the first half of their 1-0 win over Estonia.  

Jon Walters scored from the penalty spot in the Ireland's 2-1 defeat to Poland, but will miss the first leg of their play-off tie due to suspension.

Marko Arnautovic found the net with a fine solo run to help Group G winners Austria to a 3-2 comeback win over Montenegro, and repeated the feat in the 3-0 victory over Liechtenstein on Monday, scoring his side's opener.

Geoff Cameron found the net for USA against Mexico, but was unable to prevent his side slipping to a 3-2 defeat after extra time.

Marko Arnautovic showed great determination to fire Austria level against Montenegro


Steven Fletcher scored an impressive goal against Poland, but was unable to fire his side to victory, and the eventual 2-2 draw meant Gordon Strachan's men failed to qualify for Euro 2016.

The striker then netted a hat-trick as the Scots finished off their campaign with a 6-0 win over Gibraltar.

John O'Shea was sent off in the Republic's 2-1 defeat to Poland and will now miss the first leg of their play-off tie due to suspension.

DeAndre Yedlin registered an assist but was unable to prevent USA slipping to a 3-2 extra-time defeat to Mexico - meaning Mexico, not USA, represent CONCACAF at the 2017 Confederations Cup.

Sebastian Larsson came on in the second half of Sweden's 2-0 win in Liechtenstein, and then played the full 90 minutes in the win over Moldova in Stockholm on Monday by the same scoreline.

Jeremain Lens came off the bench in the Netherlands' final group game at home to the Czech Republic on Tuesday evening, although the striker was unable to prevent the home team from losing 3-2 and so failing to qualify for Euro 2016.

Swansea City

It was a historic weekend for Ashley Wiliams and Neil Taylor as Wales secured their place at Euro 2016 despite a 2-0 defeat to Bosnia.

It is the first time Wales have qualified for a major tournament since the 1958 World Cup, although only the former started his country's 2-0 home win against Andorra on Tuesday night.

Gylfi Sigurdsson got on the scoresheet in Iceland's 2-2 draw with Latvia, capping a fine run with a low finish.

Jefferson Montero played 77 minutes as Ecuador pulled off a shock 2-0 victory over Argentina in World Cup 2018 qualifying.

Tottenham Hotspur

Dele Alli made his England debut as an 88th-minute sub against Estonia and also featured off the bench against Lithuania.

Harry Kane started both matches and saw a shot hit the post and go in off 'keeper Giedrius Arlauskis against Lithuania.

Christian Eriksen will be facing a play-off with Denmark after their defeat to Portugal as Albania beat them to second spot in Group I.

Ben Davies started for Wales as Chris Coleman's side ended their Euro 2016 qualifying campaign on a high by beating Andorra 2-0 in Cardiff on Tuesday.

Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen both featured for Belgium as they overcame Israel 3-1 at home on Tuesday to top Group B.

Craig Cathcart was the unlikely hero for Northern Ireland in Finland, netting in the 1-1 draw which sent them to France 2016 as group winners.

Odion Ighalo came off the bench and scored the final goal for Nigeria in their 3-0 friendly win over Cameroon.

Defender Sebastian Prodl helped Group G winners Austria keep a clean sheet in their 3-0 win over Liechtenstein on Monday and also played in the 3-2 win in Montenegro on Friday.

West Bromwich Albion

Gareth McAuley and Chris Brunt will be bouncing back to the Hawthorns after helping Northern Ireland to not only qualify for their first major tournament since 1986, but also win their qualification group, after beating Greece and drawing with Finland.

However, team-mate Jonny Evans missed both contests with a hamstring problem.

Salomon Rondon played both World Cup qualifiers for Venezuela as they were beaten by Paraguay and Brazil.

West Ham United

Darren Randolph had a Republic of Ireland debut to remember. The West Ham shot stopper stepped off the bench to replace the injured Shay Given and made a series of fine saves, before setting up Shane Long for the winner as his side beat world champions Germany 1-0 win to guarantee at least a Euro 2016 play-off place.

Unfortunately for Randolph, defeat to Poland in their final fixture meant the Republic missed out on automatic qualification and will need a play-off to make it to next summer's tournament.
