Michael Carrick insists he has not even given any thought to winning an England recall in time for Euro 2012.
The Manchester United midfielder has won 22 international caps but has not appeared for his country since playing against Mexico at Wembley back in May of 2010.
But while some may think his form deserves a return to the fold, Carrick himself is only concentrating on playing well for the Red Devils right now.
The 30-year-old is adamant he has not changed much as a player since making his England debut back in 2001 as a teenager.
Responsibility
"To be honest, it's not something I've thought about," Carrick told United's
official website when asked about an England recall.
"I'm just concentrating on playing here and playing well. Whatever happens, happens. I haven't been involved in the last few squads so I'm just concentrating on doing well here.
"I haven't changed as a player.
"But maybe as you get older and gain more experience, that brings more responsibility. You're looked at slightly differently and that's fine, I'm comfortable with that.
"Yes, that's the way I've always played (as the fulcrum in a team). I'm not going to change because situations change. You've got to do what you're good at and keep improving.
"I enjoy the responsibility and, as you get older, maybe the younger players look at you in a different way. I'm comfortable with that."
