England have been given a traditional Russian welcome at their World Cup training base with Gareth Southgate taking part in a bread and salt ceremony.
England arrived in Russia on Tuesday after landing at St Petersburg airport and are staying in the village of Repino, in the northwest of the country.
Ahead of their first training session, Southgate and his side were presented with Russian karavai - a large round loaf of bread usually eaten at weddings or housewarming celebrations as a symbol of hospitality.
Southgate received the bread from a woman dressed in classic Russian costume but he did not follow in the footsteps of Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo and Brazil's Neymar, who both ate the bread in front of cameras upon their arrival in Russia.
So a sweet start for England in Russia - but will Southgate's time at the World Cup have a bitter ending?
