Ligue 1 round-up: Monaco humbled by Angers as horror start continues

Monaco were beaten for the third time in seven games as Angers left the principality with a shock 1-0 win.

The only goal of the game came just before the half-hour mark, when Stephane Bahoken fired high beyond Diego Benaglio.

Monaco - with Radamel Falcao leading the line - failed to register a single shot on target throughout the 90 minutes despite racking up 67 per cent of possession, and drop to 16th in Ligue 1 with six points from seven games.

Nice shrugged off a second-half equaliser from Nante's Emiliano Sala to leave the Stade de la Beaujoire with a 2-1 win.

They took the lead when Christophe Jallet fired into the bottom corner, but the scores were level shortly before the hour mark when Sala finished off Gabriel Boschilia's through-ball with a smart effort.

But 21 minutes from time, Nice restored their lead when Jean-Victor Makengo turned in Racine Coly's cross from close-range.

St Etienne were victorious by the odd goal in five at Toulouse, who threatened a late comeback but could not find an equaliser and drop to fifth.

The Saints kept up their bright start when Lioc Diony, who spent last season on loan at Bristol City, scored 23 minutes in.

Ex-Bournemouth and Leeds midfielder Max Gradel levelled just after the hour mark, but Remy Cabella - another with Premier League links following his failed spell at Newcastle - put the visitors back in front.

A third from Yannis Salibur following Ole Selnaes' through-ball looked like a necessary addition - and so it proved, as Toulouse again scored through Jimmy Durmaz three minutes later, but could not make up the difference and find another equaliser.
