UK Sport will on Wednesday announce their aims to host the 2030 World Cup in UK and Ireland, Sky Sports News understands.

The plan has government backing, with Prime Minister Theresa May saying on Friday the government would support any bid.

She said: "Following the excitement of this summer's World Cup, the English FA are working together with the FAs of Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and Ireland to explore whether there could be a joint bid to host the 2030 World Cup."

Any formal bid would require the Football Association to take the lead.
