The Professional Footballers' Association are continuing to work with Bolton Wanderers in an attempt to ensure wages are paid to players for November and December.
Sky Sports News understands a discussion involving senior players and owner Ken Anderson took place towards the end of November in an attempt to resolve the issue.
The club's staff were paid on November 30, later than expected, but players were not included and another promise made on December 6 has also failed to result in a resolution.
Bolton owner Ken Anderson is understood to have written to the players assuring the money would be paid, however Sky Sports News understand the PFA is providing assistance to try and resolve the matter for both November and December's salaries.
In October, the club avoided administration after a loan was repaid to BluMarble Capital Ltd, with the payment also meaning they would not receive a point deduction or transfer embargo.
Bolton were beaten 3-2 by Norwich at Carrow Road on Saturday and remain 23rd in the Sky Bet Championship table.
