When transferring a player in, it is always a risk as to whether they are going to be worth the money. Regardless of the price range in Sky Sports Fantasy Football, various players are performing at differing standards, with some proving to be value-for-money even if they are bargain picks.
Here, we take a look at the top five such players in each position and then draw up an overall list of 'best surprise packages'.
This could help provide potential bargains for your Fantasy Football XI as we embark upon the latter half of the campaign...
Goalkeepers
Defenders
Midfielders
Strikers
The top five surprise packages
(5) Danny Ings - 10.39 POINTS PER £M
The Southampton striker has netted seven times in only 14 starts, despite his team's struggles this campaign, including a brace in their 3-2 win over Arsenal last month. At only £7.7m, Ings can be a real value pick for the upcoming round of fixtures, allowing you to complement this with a big-money move which could see all your strikers earn valuable points.
(4) Raul Jimenez - 13.16 POINTS PER £M
The summer signing from Benfica has directly contributed to 10 goals for Wolves through his six goals and four assists. Featuring 21 times, Jimenez is averaging just slightly under five points per match, which is a good reliable source of points to be bringing in for your Fantasy XI each and every week. After Wolves get their fixture with Manchester City out of the way on Monday, they do not face another 'big six' club for seven matches, which could see the Mexican's average increase even more.
(3) Roberto Pereyra - 13.46 POINTS PER £M
The Watford winger has registered nine goals this year, combined with his three Sky Sports Man of the Match awards. When Pereyra scores, he tends to play well and earn a MOTM award. With three-goal contributions in his last four fixtures, Pereyra could come into form once more.
(2) James Maddison - 13.55 POINTS PER £M
A heap of pressure was put on Maddison's shoulders as he signed from Norwich in the summer, with a mission to fill the void that Riyad Mahrez left when he joined Manchester City, but he has dealt with this rather well. He has the most Leicester Fantasy Football points with 103, and has been directly involved in eight goals in 19 Premier League appearances (five goals, three assists), which could be set to double before the season is out, signalling a sound start to Premier League life in a Leicester shirt
(1) Matthew Doherty - 15.54 POINTS PER £M
In at number one is possibly the value-pick of the season thus far, as Doherty has registered points from all departments. Second only to Raul Jimenez from his team, the right wing-back has secured 101 points this campaign, stemming from three goals and four assists. Additional to the other players, he can pick up points by keeping clean sheets, of which he has five so far. His two MOTM awards can highlight why Doherty has been a hit this season and also why he is number one in terms of surprise packages, when considering points per £m in Sky Sports Fantasy Football.
