Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk is a doubt for Wednesday's match against Leicester due to illness.

Van Dijk has not trained fully since returning from the club's warm-weather training camp in Dubai.

His potential absence could come as a major blow to Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, who already has limited options in defence.

Klopp said: "Virgil [Van Dijk] was a little bit ill but he trained yesterday so we will see.

"He will train today and we will see. Dejan [Lovren] is fine. Gini [Wijnaldum] trained. Fabinho will train today.

"Trent [Alexander-Arnold] is getting closer and closer, it looks all very positive but he will not be ready for tomorrow."

Liverpool are also unable to call on Nathaniel Clyne after loaning the England international to Bournemouth earlier this month.

Klopp added: "You will have to wait until tomorrow. We will play with a right back. Or maybe a wing-back. I don't know! I have no clue what we are doing to be honest."
