Aitor Karanka believes Chelsea have got a top player in Alvaro Morata, who is only going to improve in the Premier League.
The former Middlesbrough boss knows Morata from his time as assistant at Real Madrid and says the 24-year-old striker's experience at the Bernabeu and with Juventus will stand him in good stead for the rigours of the Premier League.
He told Sky Sports News: "I've known him since he was a 16-year-old because he was in the national team in Spain.
"Chelsea are signing a really good player with a lot of potential. He's always trying to improve because he wants to learn everyday.
"His experience at Juventus two years ago was very important for him.
"It's true the last season he didn't play a lot but every single player in Real Madrid is important in terms of experience, so he's going to be a top player."
However, Karanka thinks that another big-money summer signing, Romelu Lukaku, may make a more immediate impact at Manchester United simply because of his Premier League experience.
"I think Manchester United may have a little bit advantage because Lukaku knows the league," Karanka added.
"Lukaku knows Jose Mourinho from when they worked together at Chelsea.
"Alvaro is new to the league and it is true that he knows the coach (Antonio Conte) but you have to say Lukaku, with his knowledge of the league, has a little bit of advantage."
