George Thorne has extended his loan stay at Portsmouth from West Brom for another month.

Attacking midfielder agrees extension

George Thorne has extended his loan stay at Portsmouth from West Brom for another month. The 19-year-old, who is a product of Albion's youth academy, has impressed manager Michael Appleton since his arrival at Fratton Park in November. Thorne was recalled by the Premier League club in December due to an injury crisis at the Hawthorns, but eventually re-joined Pompey on loan again in February. Baggies boss Roy Hodgson has now helped out his old assistant manager by agreeing to extending the youngster's loan for another month. And the attacking midfielder, who has made nine appearances for the South Coast club, is now eligible to play in Saturday's Championship game at home to Bristol City. And Hodgson has admitted that he is happy for Thorne to stay out on loan to the Championship bottom club, telling the Birmingham Post: "It's good for George to get games in central midfield. We have some very fierce competition there at the moment. "So it was a chance for us to loan him out and get a few games under his belt. We wish George all the best." Despite the emergency loan window closing next Thursday, Pompey will be allowed to extend his deal until the end of the season.
