Sky Sports understands a host of clubs are chasing former Bristol Rovers midfielder John-Joe O'Toole.

O'Toole, who was named in the League 2 PFA Team of the Season this term, is available on a free transfer after activating a release clause in his contract last month.

News of O'Toole's availability has alerted a number of League 1 and League 2 clubs with the 25-year-old impressing for Rovers last season despite their relegation to the Conference.

The former Watford man was the club's leading scorer last season with 15 goals and he established himself as a key man at the Memorial Stadium after arriving from Colchester last summer.

O'Toole's agents have confirmed they are weighing up their options after attracting interest from several sides.

A spokesperson from his agents LPM said:  "Since it was announced that John-Joe was leaving Bristol Rovers we have been contacted by several clubs, which is to be expected following his goal return and selection in the League Two team of the year last season.

"Now it is a question of establishing the credible options so John-Joe can make an informed decision on his future."
