Manchester United's Victor Lindelof has been named Sweden's Player of the Year - an award Zlatan Ibrahimovic won for 10 years running.

Ibrahimovic, who has scored 22 goals in 27 games for MLS side LA Galaxy since leaving United in 2018, won the award in every season between 2007 and 2016.

Sweden captain Andreas Granqvist took the gong last year, but has been pipped to the post by his national team centre-back partner Lindelof this time around.

"It means very much for me to stand here today and receive this prize," Lindelof said.

"I am very proud and extremely grateful. I want to thank all my team-mates, in the club team and national team."

Lindelof was a prominent figure in the Sweden side at the 2018 World Cup, despite making just 17 Premier League appearances in his first campaign at Old Trafford following a £31m move.

He has now cemented himself as part of Jose Mourinho's plans, starting 10 of United's league matches this season.

"To my beautiful wife: Thank you very much for being there and taking care of me and helping me and always supporting me. You mean everything to me."

Lindelof is set to feature for Sweden this week as they take on both Turkey and Russia in the UEFA Nations League.
