Zambia coach Herve Renard insists that the nation's target for the African Cup of Nations is to progress from the group stages.
Many critics are giving Chipolopolo little chance of making it out of Group D with Cameroon, Gabon and Tunisia stand in their way.
However, Renard is confident that his side can achieve the feat as he feels his charges are improving all the time.
Renard said in a press conference: "Our target is to reach the second round.
"In life one makes progress step by step. When I arrived in this country my ambition was to qualify for the African Nations Cup.
"Now we want to go to the next step."
The Copper Bullets kick off their AFCON campaign against Tunisia at the Nossa Senhora do Monte next Wednesday.
