COLE MOST PROLIFIC SAY STATS

Kevin Phillips may be top of the goalscoring charts but, according to the official Carling Opta statistics, Andy Cole is the Premiership`s most prolific player.

The Manchester United star averages a goal every 83.82 minutes to top the table, with Alan Shearer coming six minutes behind with an 89.83 average over his 12 goals.

Phillips and his former strike partner Michael Bridges, now at high-flying Leeds United, follow in third and fourth place, with averages of 93.69 minutes and 100.33 minutes per goal respectively.

Arsene Wenger has had problems deciding on his strike partnership this season, chopping and changing between Davor Suker and Nwankwo Kanu as partner to Dennis Bergkamp.

But the stats suggest that Bergkamp and Thierry Henry should be fighting for a place alongside them after the pair came in at fifth and sixth on the table, with 106.4 and 111.14 being their respective scores.

The table includes the top 10 players who have scored four goals or more with the best goals to minutes played ratio.
