SCHALKE DUO GET GERMANY CALL

SCHALKE duo Gerald Asamoah and Joerg Boeheme have been rewarded for their impressive form this season with call-ups to the Germany squad.

Both men are the only two uncapped players in Rudi Voller's 23-man strong squad for their next three internationals.

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Lars Ricken also returns to the squad for the first time since July 1999.

Asamoah, (pictured) a midfielder, and Boehme, a defender, have been outstanding for Schalke this season in which they narrowly finished as runners-up to Bayern Munich.

Group Nine leaders Germany are due to play a friendly against Slovakia on May 29 in Bremen and World Cup qualifiers away to Finland and Albania on June 2 and 6 respectively.

Voller has, though, surprisingly included injured Bayern Munich midfielder Jens Jeremies, who has been ruled out of Wednesday's Champions League final against Valencia.
