Pele: Ronaldinho has been the best

PELE has named Ronaldinho as his choice for the best player of World Cup 2002.

The legendary Brazilian admits he had a dilemma choosing which of the Brazilian team he thought had had the most impact.

"It is always a difficult task to pick out the best player," said Pele, who will be one of the judges to pick from a shortlist of ten for the World Cup Golden Ball award.

"But, for me Ronaldinho has been the player who has played for the longest at the top of his game."

Bearing in mind that Ronaldinho was banned for the semi-final after being sent off against England, this makes the Paris Saint Germain star's achievements even greater.

The creative forward has been superb in a three pronged attack alongside a rejuvenated Ronaldo and the influential Rivaldo.

But news that a player widely regarded as one of the greatest of all time has picked him out, will be a major boost for the player.
