Baros to stay with Reds

Milan Baros is expected to stay at Liverpool despite being linked with a move away.

Milan Baros is expected to stay at Liverpool despite being strongly linked with a move away from Anfield.

The Czech striker's future has been the subject of intense speculation in recent weeks with Lyon and Valencia both lining up moves for the player.

Lyon boss Gerard Houllier has admitted he would be interested in linking up with Baros again having signed him while he was in charge at Liverpool.

Baros has also previously suggested that he might leave Liverpool because he was frustrated at being constantly substituted.

However, one of Baros' agents Dalibor Lacina revealed the striker is now set to remain at Liverpool.

"Milan is now on holidays in Czech Republic and he doesn't think it would be good to leave Liverpool now," Lacina told Idnes.

"At Liverpool there is still a lot of euphoria after that unexpected Champions League triumph, and also the club has been awarded a place in next season's Champions League.

"So Baros prefers to stay at Liverpool these days.

"There are many calls from the Lyon representatives to our agency, but as I hinted that meeting would have been good for nothing at present.

"And also Milan is not under pressure to make a transfer as he still has one year certainly at Liverpool and as I know he wants to fight for his place in the squad."

Lacina also ruled out the possibility of a move to Valencia because of the change of management at La Mestalla.

"Valencia have changed the management, they also have a new coach," added Lacina.

"Anyway Baros is very expensive for them to buy so they have started searching for new players for somewhere else."
