Cech: Best is yet to come

Chelsea keeper Petr Cech insists his side's play will improve as the season unfolds.

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech insists his side's play will improve as the season unfolds.

The Czech Republic international dismissed claims that Jose Mourinho's side play a boring style of football, with The Blues making it seven wins out of seven with a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa on Saturday.

The former Rennes custodian believes winning sides need the ability to attack and defend equally well.

"It's all about winning but I think we're also playing well," said Cech.

"We're playing the way we want to at the moment because it's only the start of the season.

"We need more games to improve - to find the pace of our game and everything - but we've started very well.

"Last season, the start was exactly the same. After five or six games everybody said, 'Chelsea are boring', and after that they just couldn't stop us.

"It's going to be exactly the same this time.

"If you want to be successful, you have to play well defensively.

"You can always score more but it's not only about the attacking part of the game."

Meanwhile, Chelsea centre back Robert Huth has hinted he may need to leave Stamford Bridge in order to improve his World Cup chances with Germany.

The 21-year-old has yet to start a match for The Blues this season and fears a lack of first team action may ultimately rule him out of selection in Jurgen Klinsmann's Germany squad.

Huth has attracted the interest of Aston Villa and German giants Schalke and the big defender admits he needs to be playing, if he is to make the finals in his homeland next summer.

"I've got a World Cup to think of and need to be seen on the pitch to make sure I can take part in such a huge event," stated Huth.
