The future of Johan Boskamp as Stoke City manager has been thrown into doubt following his row with Jan de Koning and John Rudge.The Dutchman fell out with assistant manager de Koning and director of football Rudge following Stoke's 2-1 away win at Midlands rivals Coventry City.
Boskamp felt his credibility had been challenged when Rudge and de Koning discussed tactics during the Coventry win.
The incident forced The Potters to place de Koning and Rudge on a week's leave in order to defuse the situation, with chief executive Tony Scholes having expressed confidence that the trio could resolve their disagreements.
Reports in Staffordshire are now suggesting that Boskamp is reconsidering an earlier ultimatum to resign from his post while away on a scouting trip in Belgium.
It is thought that the Dutchman had threatened to step down as Potters boss unless both de Koning and Rudge were relieved of their duties.
The matter is likely to be sorted early next week, with Stoke captain Michael Duberry stating the squad's support for Boskamp.
"As with any player here, I think he's the man who picks the team and he's the leader," Duberry told The Sentinel. "He is the boss.
"The direction this club has gone in since the start of the season has been down to him and we've followed.
"Everyone is behind the manager and everyone is happy with him. He's the figure that really matters."
Meanwhile, veteran defender Gerry Taggart will undergo surgery in the next couple of weeks to sort out a long-standing knee problem.
