Sociedad seal double Prem raid

Real Sociedad have agreed loan deals for Mark Gonzalez and John Viafara.

Real Sociedad have agreed loan deals with Liverpool for Mark Gonzalez and Portsmouth for John Viafara.

Gonzalez has been widely tipped to move back to Spain after failing to secure a work permit in England.

He joined The Reds from Albacete during the summer, but has so far been unable to commence his Anfield career.

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has now agreed to loan the Chile international to Sociedad until the end of the season in the hope he might be able to secure an EU passport in time to play for the Merseysiders next season.

Viafara has also consented to a move to the Anoeta after failing to establish himself at Fratton Park.

The Colombian international was brought to Pompey by Alain Perrin last summer, but has found himself frozen out since Harry Redknapp took charge.

Redknapp has recently brought in Pedro Mendes and Sean Davis to bolster his midfield options, leaving Viafara someway down the pecking order.

Both he and Gonzalez will now travel to Spain to undergo medicals on Monday and should complete their moves before Tuesday's transfer deadline.
