Deal offer for unsure Crespo

Hernan Crespo has been offered a contract extension by Chelsea.

Hernan Crespo has been offered a contract extension by Chelsea, but has suggested his future lies away from Stamford Bridge.

The Argentina international has a further two years remaining on his present deal, but Chelsea have offered to top that up by another 12 months.

Crespo is happy with The Blues' decision to reward him for his efforts in helping the club retain the Premiership title.

"Although I have two years still on my contract, they offered me a renewal," Crespo told daily newspaper La Nacion.

"They're making me a proposal for when I'm 33-years-old.

"That means one has done things well. I'm content to have won the Premier League."

But though Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho wants the 30-year-old in his squad for next season, Crespo is less certain about his future.

The former Lazio and Internazionale striker is tempted by a return to Italy and has not ruled out a transfer to Spain.

Crespo, who has also been linked with Turkish side Fenerbahce, admits his intention is to leave the West London big-spenders this summer, even though club owner Roman Abramovich is baffled by his stance.

He added: "I don't know [if I will stay in England].

"My intention would be to return to Italy or [go to] Spain. At Chelsea, they know that, over and above my being happy there.

"Abramovich said to me: 'How can that be? The fans love you, the coach wants you, I offer to renew your contract and you want to leave?'"

Meanwhile, Portuguese goalkeeper Hilario was unable to expand on rumours that he could be moving to Stamford Bridge.

The Nacional shot-stopper has been linked with a free transfer switch to Chelsea, but did not wish to confirm he would be linking up with his compatriot Mourinho.

Hilario said: "I only speak of things when they are completed."
