Auxerre set for departures

French side Auxerre could lose up to four first-team stars this summer.

Auxerre could be on the lookout for a number of new signings with the reported departure of four first-team stars imminent.

On-loan midfielder Mathieu Berson is unlikely to get a permanent contract at the Stade Abbe-Deschamps following the sacking of Jacques Santini, while veteran duo Yann Lachuer (pictured) and Philippe Violeau are both out of contract.

New coach Jean Fernandez is keen to keep Lachuer, according to the player, but Nice and St Etienne are both ready to offer a contract to the midfielder.

"Apparently, Auxerre's directors would like to keep me," Lacheur told But. "I want to have a chat with Jean Fernandez."

"I am still discussing with St Etienne and I have had [Nice] coach Frederic Antonetti on the phone, he is still interested."

Meanwhile, Benoit Cheyrou is a target for St Etienne, Monaco and Paris Saint Germain.

Cheyrou has a contract with Auxerre until 2008 but has had serious talks with Les Verts, who are also interested in former Udinese star Lucas Castroman.
