Imps trial for Amoo

Lincoln City have handed a trial to former Aston Villa midfielder Ryan Amoo.

Lincoln City have handed a trial to former Aston Villa midfielder Ryan Amoo.

The League Two club will have a closer look at the 22-year-old, who has been out of the game after his release from Northampton Town in late March 2005.

Imps director of football John Deehan is familiar with Amoo, having worked with the player when he was with The Cobblers.

"Ryan is someone we want to bring in and take a look at," Deehan told the Lincolnshire Echo.

"He is out of the game at the minute and can consider himself unfortunate in that respect. Having worked with him, I know what he is capable of.

"He can play in a variety of positions, which is probably his downfall because he has never made a position his own. But he has plenty of potential."

Amoo will join fellow midfielder Steve Melton in earning a trial with the Sincil Bank outfit following his release from local rivals Boston United.

Deehan says Melton has every chance of winning a contract with the club this summer.

"We'll keep a close eye on him and, if he does impress us, we could take it further," he added.
