New Troyes signing Yann Lachuer has told skysports.com that he chose the club because of his desire to play 'sexy football'.The 34-year-old playmaker left Auxerre in the summer and has targeted at least two more seasons in the French top flight.
After signing a one-year deal at Troyes he says he is relishing his new challenge, and is looking forward to the new style of play the club want to implement.
"A number of clubs wanted to sign me: St Etienne, Nice, Le Mans, and the most interesting for me were Troyes, Nancy, clubs in Italy and the Emirates," Lachuer told skysports.com.
"I wanted to pen a one-year contract, in order to be free to choose my next club at the end of the season. We never know, if the club is relegated.
"Troyes have convinced me, not because of money - I would have chosen Nancy or the Emirates - but because of the sexy football project.
"Coach Jean-Marc Furlan and I have a lot in common. We both love the beautiful game. Yes, I am a creative player, and ESTAC are famous in France for their spectacular football.
"Here, people trust me, give me responsibilities, and there is a culture of football."
Lachuer says that it will be a big ask to keep Troyes in Ligue 1 this season as they have not splashed out in the transfer market.
"It is a huge challenge, because Troyes haven't invested a lot in recruitment, the group is limited, so staying put in Ligue 1 would be an exploit.
"I will try to add experience and leadership to the team. They wanted me for those reasons.
"We have to stay realistic, we are only Troyes. We can dream, but modesty is the key."
Lachuer paid tribute to his former Auxerre boss Guy Roux and said he thoroughly enjoyed his time there, but is still looking to extend his career.
"At Auxerre, it has been joy and happiness. We have played European football nearly every season during ten years in spite of a mediocre budget.
"I have been blessed to have been working under Guy Roux.
"I know I can play two or three more seasons. It will depend on my performances and on the opportunities."
