Dong Fangzhuo played 90 minutes for Manchester United's reserves.

Dong Fangzhuo played 90 minutes for Manchester United's reserves against Liverpool on Thursday.

The China star was given the green light to begin his Manchester United career last month when he was granted a work permit.

He was thrown into the reserve clash at Ewen Fields and played for the full 90 minutes of the 0-0 draw.

Sir Alex Ferguson and Carlos Queiroz watched from the stands and they saw the striker hit the post in the dying minutes.

Ferguson also saw Alan Smith, Wes Brown and Mikael Silvestre complete 90 minutes, while Darren Fletcher played the first half.

Liverpool fielded Bolo Zenden and the Dutchman played 45 minutes on his return from injury.
