Fergie: We've had our blip

Sir Alex Ferguson has warned Chelsea that Man Utd will not let their form dip.

Sir Alex Ferguson has warned Chelsea that Manchester United have already suffered their blip in form as the Premiership title race continues apace.

The Blues currently have a six-point gap to close if they are to claim their third title win in succession, and go into the weekend bursting with confidence following the return of captain John Terry.

However they will need United to slip up in the remaining 13 games and Jose Mourinho will be poised to take advantage of any perceived weakness at Old Trafford.

Ferguson though, is the master of title run-ins, and the man who coined the term 'squeaky bum time' says United have already experienced their blip in recent defeats to West Ham and Arsenal.

"I think we've had our blip. West Ham away was our blip. Arsenal, 1-0 up with nine minutes to go, was a blip," said Ferguson.

11 victories will all but secure a ninth Premiership crown for Ferguson, but the wily Scot is well aware that United will not be picking up wins at will as Premiership sides jostle for position.

"There's no point thinking you're going to get any easy points because that won't happen," Ferguson added.

"We've got to be ready for the difficult tasks and the challenges. That's what winning the championship is about."

United's next challenge comes in the form of Tottenham on Sunday, live on Sky Sports 1, when summer signing Michael Carrick will return to White Hart Lane.

The England international has impressed so far with United and Ferguson has hailed the midfielder's vision and passing ability.

"He's an absolutely sensational passer of the ball.

"You should pick players for what they can do rather than what they can't do.

"If they can create goalscoring opportunities then that's a plus point for us, and that's why we bought him."
