Notts County have revealed they turned down a six-figure offer for David Pipe during the transfer window.Chief executive Geoff Davey admitted the decision to turn down the unnamed club's 'substantial' bid was a difficult decision, but praised the board for keeping Pipe.
He believes rejecting the offer highlights Notts County's ambition and stands the club in good stead for the future.
"A couple of days before the transfer window closed in January we had a very substantial six-figure offer for David Pipe," Davey told Notts County's official website.
"In some people's minds it was difficult to turn down when considering the financial position the club has been in over the last few years, and given that finances are still delicate.
"I think the chairman and board of directors are to be commended on taking a decision which effectively underlines the club's ambition.
"This ambition could perhaps never be achieved if the club disposes of its better players at every opportunity it has to do so."
Stephen Hunt and Lawrie Dudfield, meanwhile have both signed contract extensions at Meadow Lane.
"Stephen was a player with something of a question mark over him when he joined us at the start of the season, but he has proven to be a player of some quality and we have rewarded him with a two-year extension to his contract," confirmed Davey.
"Lawrie too has happily agreed an extension to his contract, which was due to expire at the end of this current season."
Meanwhile, the club have confirmed that Tom Curtis has left by mutual consent.
