Phil Neville has urged his players to put in a repeat of October’s 1-0 win over Brazil when they face each other again in the SheBelieves Cup.

England Women boss Phil Neville believes the SheBelieves Cup is the perfect preparation for this summer's World Cup.

The Lionesses open their campaign in the four-team competition against Brazil on Wednesday evening (kick-off 9pm GMT) before taking on hosts USA on Saturday and Japan the following Tuesday.

Speaking to FIFA's official website, Neville said: "SheBelieves is a really great dress rehearsal in terms of three games in a short space of time, three pressure games in good stadiums against the top teams.

"So it's almost like a quarter, semi, final knockout phase because you're playing the best teams in the world."

There will also be a chance for the psychological boost of a win over Japan, who are in England's group this summer alongside Argentina and Scotland.

Birmingham City forward Ellen White says England Women are using the SheBelieves Cup as vital preparation for the World Cup

England suffered a heartbreaking injury-time loss to Japan in the World Cup semi-finals four years ago.

"That's the best thing for us - win the game and put a marker on Japan," said Neville.

"Because then, when we come to June and we're playing them in the third match, they'll have that marker in their heads of what we did to them in March."

England enter the tournament without Manchester City midfielder Jill Scott and Chelsea captain Millie Bright but it presents an opportunity for Orlando Pride forward Chioma Ubogagu to stake her claim for the summer.

London-born Ubogagu scored on her England debut against Austria last year after switching allegiance from the USA, where she grew up.

The World Cup will be Neville's first major international tournament as a manager and he has already set his sights on the trophy.
