Birmingham admit reports that the brother of Wilson Palacios has been released by kidnappers are 'premature'.

Wilson Palacios' brother is still being held by kidnappers

Birmingham have admitted reports claiming the brother of midfielder Wilson Palacios has been released by kidnappers are 'premature'. Fifteen-year-old Edwin Palacios was abducted a fortnight ago in Honduras, but it was announced on Thursday that the kidnapping was over. However, Birmingham have said Edwin is still to be released - although the situation is thought to be close to being resolved. A Birmingham statement said: "Further to earlier reports, Birmingham City FC now understands that news of the release of Wilson Palacios' kidnapped brother are premature. "The club was told in good faith on Thursday, by both the player himself and his agent, that Wilson's 15-year-old brother Edwin had been released by his kidnappers.

Incorrect

"It now appears that, although the situation is close to being resolved, Wilson and his agent had been incorrectly informed themselves. "Wilson is currently in Miami with the Honduras national side but, because of the time difference, the club has not yet been able to fully clarify the situation." Honduras Security Ministry officials have also confirmed that there is no evidence that Edwin has been released. "We don't know where this story came from, because the boy is still not free," said Security Ministry spokesman Hector Ivan Mejia.
