Partick Thistle have sacked manager Alan Archibald and his assistant Scott Paterson following their 2-0 defeat at home to Ross County on Saturday.
The result leaves Partick eighth in the Scottish Championship, 10 points behind leaders Ayr United.
Chief executive Gerry Britton and head of the academy Scott Allison have been placed in temporary charge of the first team while the board search for Archibald's successor.
Partick chairwoman Jacqui Low said: "As a club with a proud reputation for supporting and backing its managers, this decision was not taken lightly. But it has been taken in the best interests of the football club and our fans.
"We gave Alan our full support following relegation but were clear from the outset that our sole objective was to secure promotion back to the Premiership.
"However, results have not met our expectations so if we are to still achieve our aim, a change had to happen now.
"The board wishes to place on record our genuine gratitude and thanks to Alan for his outstanding service to this club as player, captain, coach and manager.
"Alan and Scott leave the club with our very best wishes for their future careers."
Archibald led Partick to promotion from the First Division in 2013 and to an unprecedented sixth-place finish in the Premiership in 2017.
However, last season's relegation, followed by a slow start to this campaign, have sealed Archibald's fate.
Partick say they want potential candidates to register their interest in replacing Archibald by Friday, October 12.
