Match report as Man City complete the domestic double of WSL and FA Cup after beating Brighton; Khadija 'Bunny' Shaw's opener was followed up by goals from Alex Greenwood, Aoba Fujino and Vivianne Miedema; Brighton began well but could not find the net in their first major final

Manchester City completed the domestic double after beating Brighton 4-0 in the Women's FA Cup final at Wembley.
Andree Jeglertz's side had already won the WSL this season - ironically clinched after Brighton drew 1-1 with Arsenal - and have now mirrored their success of 2016, when they last won the FA Cup and league titles.
It was Man City's first visit to Wembley since 2022, when they lost to Chelsea in the same competition, while Brighton made history with their first major final appearance.

The Seagulls began brightly too and offered some hope of causing an upset. Kiko Seike was the instigator, making penetrating runs down the right wing and also having a great shot that blazed over the bar.
But once Man City began to click - and Khadija 'Bunny' Shaw was allowed onto the ball - they never looked back. The WSL Golden Boot winner inevitably opened things up too as she nodded home an Alex Greenwood cross.
Brighton wanted a VAR review as Chiamaka Nnadozie went down. But the goalkeeper never had control of the ball and was beaten in the air by Shaw.
Next it was the Man City captain Greenwood's chance to contribute. She sent in a low free-kick that beat Nnadozie at the near post, with the Seagulls stopper surely disappointed again to let another goal slip by her.
With Man City in control, the second half was a quieter affair. They scored a cracking third as Shaw, Vivianne Miedema and Aoba Fujino combined, with the latter curling home a wonderful effort.
Miedema finished things off late in the game with her own wonderful header, which Nnadozie could not keep out. Surprisingly, it is the first time the striker has won the FA Cup, having twice been a runner-up with Arsenal.
It caps off a brilliant debut season for Jeglertz, and the first time Man City have lifted the FA Cup since 2020.
Shaw: A crazy few weeks
Man City striker Khadiha 'Bunny' Shaw to TNT Sports: "It's been a crazy few weeks. Lots of emotions. From not knowing where I'll be, to signing a contract, to being here, to winning the FA Cup. The last time I was at Wembley, I lost, so I wanted to correct that today and we did it.
"I'm hard on myself. Sometimes the girls are saying I'm too hard on myself. It's in training sometimes. Normally when you're in training, you're trying to correct the mistakes, but they just keep on happening.
"I always watch back my clips and see where I can be better and try to correct them in games, try to re-live actions in games in training."
On her new contract: "It's been a long couple of months, a whole lot of different emotions, but I've always said I wanted to be here. If I'm being honest, it's been very difficult, but towards the end we got it done and I'm happy about that."
Man City boss Andree Jeglertz added of Shaw: "A big credit to her that she thinks our programme will make her better and she can win titles, but also for the club being able to make it happen.
"It's been a long process and they have been working so hard to get it on paper. It was a great thing they made it before this game, but also before everybody left [for the summer]."
Jeglertz: My job now it make sure we hunt for more
Man City boss Jeglertz to TNT Sports: "We struggled a lot in the first half, but there is something with this team. We have so many individual qualities and those are the ones that have given us the opportunity to win the game.
"That's what it's about. We can put a lot of attention to the build-up and owning the ball, but it's about what you are doing in the penalty area that has won the league for us.
"I think we struggled in our own build-up, we didn't have the positions that we were supposed to do. I was a little bit upset at half-time because that's the only thing we can ask. We can make mistakes, but if we don't do what we agreed on beforehand, we struggle.
"We did much better in the second half, with Alex's position, with Kerolin's position, Aoba coming in. A big difference in starting positions.
"It is one thing creating a team that can win the title once and win the FA Cup once, but there is something about creating a winning culture where now we are winners, what does that mean? How do we keep pushing and striving for more?
"That will be my job now, to make sure we are hunting for more, that we are coming with confidence, but at the same time knowing we need to work even harder next year.
"We need to train more, we need to work harder in every training session, we need to be better in so many things because defending a title is more difficult than winning a title... I'm looking forward to that."
Man City cap off a wonderful season with lessons for Brighton
Analysis from Sky Sports' Charlotte Marsh at Wembley:
In the end, a pretty easy win for Man City. Brighton offered early hope and after their 3-2 win against the same opposition just a few weeks ago, will be disappointed to have not made bit more of a game of it.
But despite the current heartache, this was still a landmark afternoon for a club that is improving year-on-year.
This game can only serve as a target to reach again, and shows them what else they need to do to compete on a regular basis. The Seagulls have already shown glimpses of that, certainly in recent weeks.
Brighton are a club that have wholeheartedly thrown their support behind not just their women's team, but women's football as a whole and will surely be back on the big stage before long.
For Man City, it's another wonderful afternoon in a season of wonderful moments.
Jeglertz has transformed this team from the also-rans to the ones to beat. What a job he has done, but Shaw will rightly take the headlines. Those might have been stronger if she had decided to leave but after another match-winning turn, Man City will be beyond relieved to have her still in the ranks.
Greenwood took the player of the match award at Wembley and played her part as well. It is her second FA Cup win after winning it with Man City in 2020.
A nice moment for Miedema at the end too. She has missed recent matches for personal reasons, but a great goal in an FA Cup final caps off another great season from her on the pitch.
Vidosic: Result a bit unfair for Brighton performance
Brighton manager Dario Vidosic: "As much as we'll be disappointed with today, I feel the result is a little bit unfair on the girls in particular for the way they performed and their effort today.
"Not long ago, we were fighting to get five minutes of dominance against a Man City team and then to do what we've done today at Wembley for the first time… These girls are experiencing this day and to be that brave to play, I'm really proud and we have a lot of stuff to look forward to in the future.
"I'll review the whole season and hopefully we'll see how we go in the summer in terms of players that potentially could be coming to the club.
"We always want to try and play to players' strengths. The idea of how we want to play will remain the same, but it's always dependent on the players - we can't ask someone to do something they can't do or they're not comfortable with.
"We want to keep taking these steps and we can gain a lot of confidence now, not just from today, but also from the previous weeks of what we've been able to do against some really, really good teams.
"It fills us with a lot of confidence through the disappointment, which this will hurt for a little while, but hopefully we can use that motivation and that fire for the next season, starting in pre-season."
Kirby: No one put us in this position at the start of the season
Brighton midfielder Fran Kirby to TNT Sports: "Obviously it's disappointing to lose an FA Cup final. It's never nice, but I'm really proud of the team and the performance we put in.
"Especially in the first half, I felt we controlled the game really well, conceded, then it's really difficult to get back into the game against a team line Man City.
"No one would have put us in this position at the beginning of the season and it's a really good learning curve for everyone who's part of the club.
"But I think you could see the difference today in the leadership, in the experience, and that's what we need. We need more experience in the team, we need to keep building, keep pushing.
"Hopefully, with the performances we've put in, we can get our name out there a little bit more and help us bring in players who can keep us consistently performing against the top four.
"That's what the club's ambition is, what we want as players and what Dario wants as a manager. To be able to do that, I think we'd be able to come back here and give it a really good go."
