Glasgow City vs Rangers Women: Scottish Women's Premier League managing director Fiona McIntyre looks ahead to Sky Sports Cup Final

A message from SWPL managing director Fiona McIntyre as holders Rangers aim to win the Sky Sports Cup for a record-equalling fourth consecutive year, while SWPL leaders Glasgow City target a record-equalling seventh trophy; watch Sunday's final live on Sky Sports

Fiona McIntyre

Welcome to the 2025/26 Sky Sports Cup Final at Fir Park.

Firstly, I want to start by thanking Motherwell Football Club for hosting Sunday's match. We're delighted to be bringing this showpiece event in the SWPL calendar back to Fir Park for a second consecutive year. The stadium is an excellent stage for such an occasion, and we look forward to another exciting contest.

It's been just over a year since Rangers won the Sky Sports Cup for a third consecutive season, with a 5-0 victory over Hibernian. A bumper crowd of over 4,000 people attended the fixture that day as we witnessed an exciting spectacle live on Sky Sports. I am sure Sunday's match between Glasgow City and Rangers will be another fantastic advert for women's football in Scotland, and will produce a thrilling contest.

I would also like to extend my thanks to Sky Sports for their continued support of the SWPL, helping bring the 90 minutes and beyond to our supporters nationwide. In addition to the landmark title sponsorship of the Sky Sports Cup, our broadcast partnership with Sky Sports sees a minimum of five SWPL games per season being broadcast live on Sky Sports and ensures the SWPL is prominent across Sky Sports channels, including this match, which is live on Sky Sports Football.

Sunday 29th March 2:30pm Kick off 3:00pm

Turning the focus back to this game, I want to congratulate both Glasgow City and Rangers on reaching this year's final. Both sides have earned their spots following impressive performances throughout this year's competition, but particularly in their hard-fought semi-final matches. You can learn more about their respective 'roads to the final' within this programme.

There has been little to separate the two sides in the league this season, with Glasgow City winning 1-0 at Ibrox in their first meeting, the teams drawing 1-1 at Petershill Park in January and Rangers claiming a 1-0 win of their own last weekend.

It all points towards this match between the Glasgow rivals being fiercely competitive.

Leanne Ross' Glasgow City will be hoping to take the trophy home to Petershill for a record-equalling seventh time, while Leanne Crichton's Rangers will aim to maintain their excellent recent form in this competition and secure this piece of silverware for a record-equalling fourth consecutive year. Either way, this is guaranteed to be one for the history books.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the fans in attendance for their support at the match and of the women's game in Scotland. This game provides both sides the opportunity to take home the all-important first piece of silverware of the season.

There is also still so much to play for in the ScottishPower Women's Premier League, which, once again, promises to deliver another trademark tight race for the title. You can find more details of our upcoming fixtures here.

Finally, I would like to wish the players, club officials, and match officials the very best of luck for Sunday's match. We hope everyone enjoys what is shaping up to be a very special and memorable occasion for all involved.
