Striker set for Black Cats exit

Rade Prica is set to leave Sunderland without having started a game for the Black Cats. The Swedish striker has struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League and was left out of the squad for the club's last two pre-season games. He made just five appearances for Roy Keane's men following his January arrival, although he did score on his debut against Birmingham. The 28-year-old's former club, Aalborg, are said to be keen to take him back, although the Scandinavian side are unlikely to be able to match the forward's wages.

Competition

As a result, the only way in which Sunderland will be able to move the forward on in the short term is to send him out on loan. Danish outfit Aalborg face would then face competition for Prica's services from Norwegian rivals Brann and Rosenborg. "He is a player we are interested in, as are Rosenborg and Aalborg too," said Brann's Roald Brunn-Hanssen. "The market is very difficult and we have tried for a while to get hold of a striker."
