Full-back grateful for chance to play football once again
Wayne Bridge admits he is looking forward to getting back on the field following his loan move to Sunderland on deadline day.
The 31-year-old made his last appearance for City in their Carling Cup victory over Birmingham in September which was his only game since the start of the season.
However, a loan deal to join Martin O'Neill at the Stadium of Light means the former England international will have the chance to push for top-flight football once again.
Having joined Manchester City in 2009 after completing a £10million switch from Chelsea, Bridge has managed only 42 games for the club but is relishing the opportunity to reignite his career.
"I'm just excited to start play football again and getting a few games," he said.
"This move is a great opportunity for me. I'm grateful for the chance and hopefully I'll do well."
Grateful
Sunderland have won three of their four Premier League matches since the turn of the year, beating Bridge's parent club on New Year's Day, and the full-back is excited to join a club on the move.
He added: "This club is on the up, the manager has come in and done very well.
"Just speaking to him, everything has been positive. Hopefully, I can help the club progress even more.
"I've looked at the fixtures and this month is quite busy with a game every few days and that's going to be good for me."
Bridge is expected to make his first Premier League appearance since May on Wednesday night in the home clash against Norwich.
