Neil Warnock confirmed he will be looking for a new striker in January after Marouane Chamakh was injured against Stoke.

Crystal Palace were already light up front due to Jason Puncheon’s illness, before Chamakh went off with a suspected hamstring tear in the 1-1 draw at Selhurst Park.

The former Arsenal striker hasn’t scored in his last 10 appearances and Warnock told Sky Sports he can't wait for the transfer window to open.

Warnock said: “We’re limping over the line [with injuries] until January, I think. Options up front are limited. We missed Chamakh when he came off because of the physical presence.”

When pressed if he would be dipping into the transfer window, he added: “Hopefully on December 31, at about midnight. But I’m not sure who it is yet!”

Palace have scored just 19 goals in 16 league games this season and their top scorer is midfielder Mile Jedinak with five, three of those coming from the penalty spot.

And despite failing to pick up a win in 10 matches, Warnock has been impressed with his team’s performances.

“I’ve been disappointed in the last few weeks with the results, but I can’t fault the lads," he added.

"We’ve come up against another great goalkeeper [in Asmir Begovic] who has made a great save from James McArthur, but it just doesn’t drop for us in the box. We need to make our own luck but I was pleased with the way we played.

Paul Merson believes both teams had more to offer but Crystal Palace looked the more likely to win.

“We’ve just got to keep going haven’t we? We have a difficult game next week against Manchester City, but we are quite capable of going anywhere on our day. And we’re getting more confident.”
