Sean Dyche was pleased with Burnley's overall performance in a 2-2 draw with West Brom, despite seeing his side let slip a two-goal lead for the second successive home match.
This result saw the Clarets climb out of the bottom three - albeit by just a point - but Dyche's felt his side's honest approach cost them the victory at Turf Moor on Sunday.
Burnley were 2-0 in front after just over half an hour thanks to goals from Ashley Barnes and Danny Ings but Chris Brunt pulled a goal back in first-half stoppage time with a header from a corner before Brown Ideye, from a similar scenario, headed an equaliser midway through the second half.
"Our honesty really has hurt us today I think, because Dave Jones is as honest as a day's long," Dyche told Sky Sports. "He has an elbow in the back, doesn't go down like many do and they get a free header.
"I thought our two goals were absolutely outstanding and the quality within our performance was very good.
"It's a tough one in the respect of the two goals against but generally the performance was good."
On letting a two-goal lead slip, he added: "I put that down to operating in the Premier League. There are no givens at this level of football. It's very difficult to win football matches - we know that and there are a lot of others that know that - some of the big boys know that.
"We're learning, we're improving. I thought the performance was good again today. We know we have to detail every inch of the game because if you don't, you get hurt."
Dyche also praised Ings following the speculation linking him with a move away from the club during the transfer window.
He said: "He was excellent again today. He's effervescent, his movement, his quality at times. He's growing into the league, he's understanding it better. Fantastic finish - he's on the move in the box again.
"He's a fine talent, there's no two ways about it, and I can see why there are certain people in the media asking about England call-ups, not necessarily to start but in the squad and you can see why.
"He's a tremendous talent and we're delighted we stuck to our word and he's still a Burnley player."
