Reuben Reid netted a brace as Plymouth moved back to the Sky Bet League 2 summit with a 2-0 victory at Notts County.
Derek Adams' side were second best throughout at Meadow Lane, but found themselves ahead when Reid scored with a terrific low finish.
From then on it was all about Notts' lack of ruthlessness as chances came and went for the Magpies.
Graham Burke could have levelled but was denied by the post having connected with Elliott Hewitt's pull-back.
Liam Noble then spurned a header at the back post, before Burke tested Luke McCormick's reactions with a stinging low drive.
Notts continued to press for an equaliser after the break with Noble again going close following good work by Izale McLeod.
When Noble then released Adam Campbell, Meadow Lane sensed a leveller but the former Newcastle forward shot tamely at McCormick.
Plymouth had to work hard to fashion chances and Jake Jervis missed a decent opportunity when he fired over the bar.
But Reid wrapped up the win in stoppage time from Jervis' pass.
