Struggling Leyton Orient rescued a point in a 1-1 draw at Oldham thanks to a strike from substitute Scott McGleish.

The veteran cancelled out Chris Taylor's first-half strike but there was another hero for Orient as substitute keeper Lee Butcher made a string of saves on his league debut. Oldham dominated the early stages and made half chances for midfield man Richie Jones and lively striker Ournare Tounkara. But home keeper Dean Brill was twice called into action as he denied Alex Revell at his near post before tipping away an audacious 50-yard chip by Matthew Spring. Oldham went ahead after 40 minutes thanks to a smart move which saw Tounkara find full-back Kieran Lee, who squared for Taylor to net from six yards. Orient lost keeper Jamie Jones to injury just before half-time but Butcher quickly made a good save from Tounkara. The 21-year-old debutant did even better after 56 minutes with a superb stop from Taylor before Oldham had a golden opportunity to double their lead, only for Dale Stephens to blaze over. The Latics paid for their wastefulness 11 minutes from time when poor defending allowed a corner to reach McGleish for a simple far post tap-in. And Butcher had the final say when he smothered a 90th-minute shot from Jean-Yves M'voto.
