An incredible 80-yard goal from Moritz Stoppelkamp continued Paderborn's dream start to life in the Bundesliga on Saturday as the East Westphalians defeated Hannover 2-0.

The former Hannover player scored an early contender for goal of the season with the last kick of the game to maintain the league newcomers' unbeaten start to their first ever season in the German top flight.

Earlier, Elias Kachunga put Andre Breitenreiter's men in front against a Hannover side who tasted defeat for the first time this campaign.

Playing their usual, fearless brand of attacking football, Paderborn have captured the imagination of fans up and down Germany and their fairytale start to their maiden Bundesliga season shows no sign of ending.

Kachunga had scored in two of Paderborn's previous three games and he was once again their biggest threat at the Paderborn Arena.

Chances were at a premium, however, with Hannover keeping things tight and looking more to preserve their own unbeaten record rather than attempting to bring an end to their opponents' run.

The long ball was the chosen method of attack and it was from one of these that Kachunga gave Paderborn the lead, after Uwe Hunemeier headed the ball down for him at the far post.

Hannover now had to raise their own game and this led to them committing everybody forward, even goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler in stoppage time for a free-kick.

What followed will remain engrained in the memories of the 15,000 spectators in Paderborn for a long time to come.

The ball fell to Stoppelkamp on the edge of his own penalty area. He took it down on his chest and then attempted an unimaginable volley which not only had enough power on it to go the full 80 yards to the unguarded goal at the other end of the field, but also had the precision to find the back of the net.
