Antoni Sarcevic's penalty earned Bradford victory over his former club Plymouth to take them second in League One.

Former Argyle midfielder Sarcevic scored from the spot in front of City's away fans in the 57th minute after returning defender Julio Pleguezuelo's push on Stephen Humphrys in front of referee Thomas Parsons.

Argyle striker Owen Oseni forced City keeper Sam Walker into an early diving save as the Greens started the game on the front foot.

City skipper Aden Baldwin had his 19th-minute header from a Max Power free-kick well saved by Conor Hazard at the far post following Sarcevic's deft flick-on.

Sarcevic then forced defender Alex Mitchell into a diving block to prevent his angled 27th-minute shot from troubling the keeper.

Oseni - replacing suspended 10-goal top scorer Lorent Tolaj - fired just over from the edge of the box in the 35th minute.

Argyle's best chance of the game came when Owen Dale was put through on goal by a superb defence-splitting pass from Malachi Boateng.

Dale shot just wide on the run from 20 yards in the opening attack of the second half, and Sarcevic soon settled the match in Bradford's favour.
