Sheff Utd vs Sheff Wed
Sky Bet Ch'ship
7:45pm Friday 9th November
SHEFF UTD 0-0 SHEFF WED
FULL-TIME! Dawson saves well from Norwood and that's it from Bramall Lane! An excellent defensive showing earns the Owls their first clean sheet of the season in the most unlikely of places!
It's a point apiece for these two sides and you can read a full report, reaction and watch highlights very soon...
90+3: FREE-KICK! Clarke wins another free-kick in a dangerous spot as Thorniley fouls him...this is the chance to settle the tie!
90+2: CORNER! Late corner for the Blades on the left is swung in, but Billy Sharp directs his header wide! He's been craving a chance like that, but he couldn't take that one!
90+1: We'll have THREE added minutes of injury time. Will we see a winner?
89: YELLOW! Hector is the latest player to have his name taken after he drags Clarke to the floor when he can't bring the ball into his own possession.
WIDE! Norwood looks threatening as he stands over the free-kick, but the execution is poor.
87: O'Connell clears a seldom seen Wednesday corner from the right with relative ease.
85: SAVE! Duffy takes his time and bends a shot at goal, but Dawson is equal to it.
84: You really feel this game could change in mere seconds. Both sides have broken forward at speed since the restart, but will anyone be able to take one of those chances to the next level.
It's squeaky-bum time in Sheffield...
81: Basham needs a little bit of medical attention as Matias' strike - his first action since being introduced - catches him square in the face. He looks good to continue, though.
79: SUB! Wednesday fan Matt Penney is replaced by Marco Matias for the final minutes of the derby.
78: Each time the Blades threaten on the edge of the area, the Owls flood their penalty area to outnumber their opponents and it's working so far...
74: CORNER! The Owls are defending well here though they've conceded another corner on the left hand side. Egan tries to get a touch on the delivery, but the visitors clear their lines as Fletcher smashes clear.
75: SUB! David McGoldrick's evening is over as he's replaced by Leon Clarke, who has scored six in six against Sheffield Wednesday...
72: Excellent, spirited challenge from Thorniley to take the ball from the feet of McGoldrick as he lined up to shoot and the Owls enjoy a rare foray forward, though they fail to make anything of the subsequent corner.
71: YELLOW! First booking of the evening goes to Bannan for a rash challenge on Stevens.
69: You sense a United chance is coming but it's just a case of when. The crowd can sense it, the hosts are enjoying nearly all of the possession but they just aren't converting that dominance into chances...
67: OVER! Basham's cross from the right is watched by Dawson as the ball floats beyond the byline and onto the roof of the net.
65: 25 minutes of normal time to play at Bramall Lane, then. Who have you got?
TECHNICAL ERROR - AN APOLOGY
We are aware that some viewers experienced
audio issues during the playing of the Last Post prior to the Sheffield derby,
we apologise unreservedly for this regrettable technical error.
60: SHOT! The Blades play a corner shot and Fleck pulls the trigger on the edge of the area, but Reach is there with the block.
Dawson does well to leap to catch a United cross from the left, but we're just seeing replays that show Fox was grappling with O'Connell off the ball, though went unpunished. Should he have conceded another penalty?
58: Just how much possession have the Blades had in this second half you ask? Just the 78 per cent...
57: SAVE! Bannan does very well to race down the right flank and cross into the area but Henderson races from his line to claim.
56: SHOT! Norwood's strike goes straight into the body of Hector, before the Owls clear.
55: Just as the Blades are beginning to put pressure on their opponents' penalty area, Freeman tries a backheel and immediately concedes possession.
53: SHOT! As we've become accustomed to seeing, Reach is capable of magic from range, but this time his long-distance shot rises well over the bar!
52: Back to match action, Norwood swings a cross over the Owls defenders to the far post, but there's no one in a Blades shirt to bring the ball under their control.
51: There's a toilet roll that's been thrown onto the pitch close to Henderson's 18-yard box - old school scenes at Bramall Lane!
50: SHOT! Here come United, passing the ball around in their own half as they look to build from the back. McGoldrick twice steps inside Bannan, but can't get enough power on the shot to test Dawson.
47: Not quite as quick a start to this half...
SECOND HALF! SHEFF UTD 0-0 SHEFF WED
We're back off and running at Bramall Lane...
HT: SHEFF UTD 0-0 SHEFF WED
HALF-TIME! That's all for the first 45 minutes and what a half it's been! Cameron Dawson saved David McGoldrick's spot-kick in the game's biggest chance, but the Owls will count themselves lucky to have gone into the break level. United have been classy but just not had the killer touch in the final third.
Join us soon for more derby action...
45+1: We'll have ONE additional minute ahead of the break here at Bramall Lane.
44: Once more the Blades earn two corners in succession. Fletcher clears the first, before Lees heads the second over. Egan protests as a goal-kick is awarded, but replays show he was entirely correct to call the decision into question.
42: If the score stays as it is at the break, Owls fans will feel incredibly fortunate, you'd feel.
O'Connell and Reach both lunge for the ball, but neither come off badly and they shake hands in the aftermath. Nice to see.
41: The Owls win a free-kick just beyond halfway and cries emanate from the crowd in disbelief. Bannan's free-kick bobbles in the area, before Reach strikes on the edge. Norwood closes down immediately, very aware of what the Owls man is capable of from range.
39: CROSS! O'Connell delivers a cross with pace from the left flank, but his delivery is over-zealous and goes out for a throw on the opposite side of the pitch.
37: Norwood concedes a free-kick in the centre circle and this gives Wednesday a chance to get a rare feel of the ball. Penney looks for a free-kick as he goes down in a heap on the right hand side of the area, but Andrew Madley shakes his head.
35: SAVE! The Owls try to clear their lines on numerous occasions, but in the end O'Connell gets a shot away, though Dawson saves.
WATCH: MCGOLDRICK'S PENALTY SAVED
What a save from Cameron Dawson...
30: CORNER! Duffy drops his shoulder and picks his spot from the left hand side of the area, but Hector gets his body in the way and concedes a corner...that was heading for the top right corner, surely.
31: OFFSIDE! Basham floats a pass out to Stevens on the left, but the Blades number three is flagged offside. Superb pass, if nothing else.
28: The Blades have had 13 touches in the opposition penalty area, in comparison to Wednesday's three...no goals to show for their troubles yet, though.
25: The Blades just aren't letting up here...Hector clears a cross behind for a corner off team-mate Thorniley, before Norwood bends a shot just beyond the top corner from 20 yards in the wake of the second set-piece.
26: OVER! Sharp stoops and heads Norwood's cross over the bar, but what a chance that is! The deadly frontman was almost totally unmarked and ghosted into the area...
22: CHANCES! This is just frenetic stuff at Bramall Lane! Duffy's cross is deflected into the path of Stevens, whose shot to charged down at one end, before Steven Fletcher attacks down the right at the other end.
He can't find a team-mate to deliver the ball to in the end, though.
19: WIDE! The chance opens up for Fleck to strike from range again, but this time he drags his shot wide of the Owl's framework.
17: CHANCE! The Blades attack once more, but once more they are denied! Freeman gets his head on a cross and McGoldrick looks to strike at goal, but Hector makes a crucial intervention to deny him for the second time in a matter of minutes!
15: PENALTY SAVED! David McGoldrick looks to place his penalty to Cameron Dawson's left, but the stopper dives low to push the penalty past the post!
