Mick McCarthy was pleased with his Wolves side's goalless draw at Southampton.
Former Ireland boss McCarthy was happy with the way his side retained possession and made the Southampton crowd turn against their team.
McCarthy said: "I felt we played very well tonight. We kept the ball well, we pinged passes around and their crowd started to get on their backs up because we were playing so well.
"A draw is not a bad result for us and if you'd asked me before the game whether I would have taken that, I would have said yes."
The Wolves boss maintained that he is aiming for promotion this season and feels that his Wolves side will be firmly in contention at the end of the campaign.
McCarthy said: "If you can string two or three wins in a row you can fly up this table as we have shown before.

"There's a lot of clubs aiming for promotion and I feel we are in as good a position as any of them."
Grzegorz Rasiak spurned a glorious opportunity to open the scoring for Southampton in the 20th minute.
Jason Euell found the striker with a pin-point pass, but Rasiak could only direct his shot straight at Wayne Hennessey in the Wolves goal.
Rasiak has five goals to his name this season but is still searching for his first strike at St Mary's.
Wolves threatened much more after the break and were unlucky to find Southampton goalkeeper Kelvin Davis in inspired form.
George Burley felt the Saints deserved a share of the spoils and was pleased with his side's work-rate.
Burley said: "We had to grind out a result today but I am pleased with the resilience we showed against a very good Wolves side. We needed to keep the ball better then we did at times but overall I am pleased with the result.
"I think on reflection a draw was a fair result on the balance of the play."
