Highlight sas Stockport County thrashed Wycombe Wanderers 5-1 at Edgeley Park.

Stockport moved up to third place in the League One table thanks to an emphatic 5-1 win over Wycombe.

A double from Harry Wood put the Hatters 2-0 up and although Cauley Woodrow pulled one back prior to half-time, goals for Kyle Wootton, Jack Diamond and Mikael Mandron sealed a well-deserved victory.

County now have six points from their opening three matches, while winless Wanderers have just two and find themselves in the relegation zone.

Fred Onyedinma had a chance to give Wycombe the lead in the 11th minute but he headed wide from Aaron Morley's corner.

County went ahead five minutes later when Wood latched on to Lewis Bate's pull-back before firing the ball into the roof of the net.

The midfielder doubled the home side's advantage midway through the first half, driving to the edge of the penalty area after receiving a pass from Wootton and finding the bottom corner with a well-struck shot.

The visitors halved the deficit shortly before the break through Woodrow, who tapped in from close range after Stockport failed to clear Morley's corner.

They should have equalised moments later, only for Silko Thomas' effort to go straight at goalkeeper Ollie Whatmuff when one-on-one.

The hosts restored their two-goal advantage in the 56th minute with Wootton meeting captain Ollie Norwood's cross at the back post and turning the ball home.

And it was 4-1 just beyond the hour mark as Diamond's shot looped over Chairboys goalkeeper Conor Hazard following a driving run into the box.

Further gloss was added to the scoreline late on with Mandron coolly slotting the ball past Hazard having been played through on goal by fellow substitute Benony Andresson
