Stoke vs M'boro
Sky Bet Ch'ship
5:30pm Saturday 3rd November
STOKE 0-0 MIDDLESBROUGH
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the game ends goalless at the bet365 Stadium. Superb defending from both sides is rewarded with a point apiece, though Boro miss the chance to return to the top of the Championship.
Stay tuned for a full report, highlights and reaction!
90+3: SAVE! Stoke find themselves attacking the ball in the dying minutes, but Crouch's cushioned header doesn't tee anyone up, before Randolph gratefully clutches the ball close to his chest.
90+2: One crucial touch could send Middlesbrough top of the Championship...
90+1: We'll have THREE additional minutes at the end of this one...
89: SHOT! The ball pings about on the edge of the Boro area and Ince tries a quick shot, but it's charged down and cleared.
87: WIDE! McClean at the heart of the action once more as he gets on the end of Ince's cross, but Randolph watches the tame header drop behind.
85: WIDE! An off-balance McClean tries a shot from the left touchline but his balance affects the shot, which trickles well wide.
84: Woods begins a Stoke attack on halfway. The ball ends up with Ince on the right flank, but Besic digs his heels in and makes the ball his own before clearing.
82: And it is. Etebo is replaced by Bojan, Berahino by McClean and Afobe by Crouch. Will this push the Potters to seize all three points?
81: That double change? It looks like it'll be a triple change, with Bojan, McClean AND Crouch coming on...
80: OVER! Tavernier picks up Hugill's pass at pace and enters the area, but under pressure from Williams, fires well over the crossbar into the crowd.
76: SAVE! Let-off for Woods as he tries to sweep the ball clear, but proceeds to feed Howson, who forces Butland to save low his his leg.
75: Double change for Stoke on the way...it looks as though Bojan and McClean will be entering the fray.
73: SUB! Lewis Wing replaces Stewart Downing for Boro as they make their second change of the evening.
70: You feel as though it may be Stoke who could strike first blood here...
71: Afobe is lurking at the far post to latch onto a corner, but the striker can't get on the end of it and Boro have a goal kick.
66: SAVE! Jordan Hugill's first touch takes him past Ryan Shawcross and the striker rushes towards the Stoke goal, tries the shot but Butland is alert to turn the ball behind with a big, big save!
He's not had an awful lot to do this evening but that was impressive.
65: Really intelligent play from Joe Allen to try to carve out some chances for Stoke, but he's earned nothing for his troubles as yet.
SUB! Martin Braithwaite's evening is over as he's replaced by Marcus Tavernier with 25 to play.
63: CORNER! Edwards delivers one of his powerful crosses from the right and Fry heads over the bar. Allen's corner comes to nothing, though Stoke return the ball to Butland to build from the back.
61: As things stand in the Championship, Middlesbrough remain third on 28 points, two points behind leaders Norwich. Stoke currrently sit 15th...
59: SHOT! Braithwaite hits a low shot that passes inches wide of the post and cannons off the advertising hoardings behind the goal.
57: SAVE! Shawcross and Allen miss chances from a corner, Etebo keeps the ball alive and finds Ince, who floats a ball over to the far post. Shawcross gets a clean connection but heads into the hands of Randolph.
55: CROSS! Lovely run and cross from Howson on the right touchline but Butland stoops to collect.
54: BLOCK! Superb defending from Batth to deny Stoke the opener here - that's the third time this evening! Berahino cushions a cross but before anyone can swing a leg at the loose ball, Batth bravely gets involved to clear the ball. He's been a man mountain this evening.
52: SHOT! Braithwaite cuts inside his marker and strikes the ball 12 yards out, but Shawcross stands strong to block.
51: CHANCE! Almost an own goal for Boro as Randolph just about manages to get his head on the end an overly lofty pass back to him!
50: Allen shakes off Clayton, drives forward and passes to Berahino, but Besic cuts the pass out.
48: Slow yet open start to the second half. Stoke on the ball more often as they were in the first half...
SECOND HALF! STOKE 0-0 MIDDLESBROUGH
Another 45 minutes to come at the bet365 and we're back off and running...
HALF-TIME! And that's the half. Despite a lack of goals, this has been an enjoyable half of football at the bet365.
No goals yet, but there have been chances, of which Stoke have had the better. Plenty to play for after the break so join us again soon...
45+1: We'll have ONE added minute at the end of the first half here at the bet365 Stadium.
45: Edwards is backed into the right hand corner, but somehow still manages to smash the ball across the pitch. Unfortunately this time it crosses the line for a throw.
41: Berahino charges forward from his own half and has a shot from range, though the ball comfortably ends up in Randolph's arms.
42: CHANCE! Another superb cross from Edwards, but Afobe can't get on the end of it! If he continues to deliver crosses like this, Boro may be in trouble.
39: Hugill chases a long ball forward but Shawcross calmly shepherds the ball away from him and clears. Without a single team-mate within close range, it was unlikely the striker was ever going to make anything of that.
36: Sublime first time ball forward from Edwards, but Shawcross just can't quite get on the end of the pass from 10 yards. Some goal that would have been!
34: WIDE! Excellent strike from Berahino as he turns inside Fry and tries his luck, but his swerving effort is just wide of Randolph's far post! He certainly looks a lot more dangerous under Gary Rowett...
30: BLOCK! Berahino steals the ball away from Flint, gets into a great spot inside the area and pulls the trigger; his effort is only kept out by a brave block from Danny Batth!
28: CHANCE! Flying save from Butland to deny Downing moments after Howson edged into the area, trying to buy a foul by catching the shoulder of Shawcross.
25: WIDE! Edwards' cross from deep on the right finds Berahino but ricochets off the forward and behind for a Boro goal-kick.
26: SAVE! Another speculative effort from Braithwaite who tries a volley from around 20 yards, but Butland is equal to it.
23: YELLOW! It's hotting up here...Ryan Woods and Adam Clayton have just squared up to one another, with the latter the next to go into the referee's notebook for a poor challenge on Etebo.
22: Martins Indi delivers the ball into the box and Joe Allen chests the ball down, but it's soon out of his possession and clear by the resolute Boro defence.
20: FOUL! Flint hauls Afobe to the floor as the striker picks up the ball in the centre circle and Stoke regain the possession.
YELLOW! Cynical trip on Hugill by Shawcross and the experienced defender becomes the first to have his name taken.
18: FREE-KICK! Afobe is fouled on the edge of the area and though Etebo strikes a fierce shot towards Darren Randolph, the referee pulls the play back for the initial foul. He then lays off for Ince and his free-kick is turned behind for a corner...
16: Boro are allowing their opponents to dominate the ball at the moment, but you feel they may well counter at speed at some point. There's no sign of such an attack as yet, but watch this space.
14: We're just being shown a stat that Gary Rowett has won just once in five meetings with Boro as a manager...
11: OVER! Superb pass from Woods to find Ince, who slips the ball through to Afobe. He lines himself up for an effort, but Batth intervenes and turns the shot over the bar, though no corner is awarded.
10: Williams swipes at a loose ball and seems to take Jordan Hugill with him on the follow-through. The Boro frontman looks up at the referee pleadingly but he simply shook his head in refusal.
6: Woods tries to release Tom Ince, but Batth is alert to the pass and lumps clear. It already looks as though this will be a tactical battle between the two sides with chances coming at a premium. I may well be wrong...
7: OVER! Martin Braithwaite curls an audacious effort from the edge of the box, but it floats harmlessly over the bar into the crowd.
3: Stoke are currently enjoying all the early possession here at the bet365. Trying to force the issue early in what's sure to be a low-scoring game...
2: It looks like it's a windy evening up in Stoke - will that play any part in this evening's result?
