Jemal Johnson's second-half strike saw MK Dons beat Swansea 1-0 in their Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie.

Dons take step towards Wembley

Jemal Johnson's second-half strike was enough to help MK Dons beat Swansea and put one foot in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy final at Wembley. With 69 minutes gone, Johnson drove in a superb 25-yard effort to ensure Paul Ince's League Two high-fliers take a one-goal advantage into the second leg of the Southern Area final. Swansea were left wondering how they slipped to the shock defeat after former goalkeeper Willy Gueret frustrated the Welsh hosts throughout. The French stopper kept out Febian Brandy's low shot in the first minute after Paul Anderson had put the on-loan striker through on goal, before also keeping out Kris O'Leary and denying Brandy once again. A more even second-half saw the visitors threaten and it was no surprise to see Johnson collect a long ball before driving home. Swansea pushed for an equaliser late on and Tom Butler, Alan Tate and Angel Rangel also had efforts saved by Gueret as MK Dons held on for the win.
