Austin and Robins pay penalty

Charlie Austin's missed penalty increased the pressure on Swindon boss Danny Wilson as Town drew 0-0 at home to Tranmere.

Both teams still sit perilously above the relegation zone after a game with few chances, but Rovers manager Les Parry will be the happier. After a quiet opening period, the game sprung into life after 19 minutes. Tranmere's Ross Labadie inexplicably dribbled the ball back into his own penalty box and with Michael Timlin putting pressure on him, the Tranmere player conceded what looked like a harsh penalty. Austin, with a posse of scouts watching on, stepped up, but on-loan goalkeeper Tony Warner kept the Robins striker out. Parry's men nearly made Austin pay when Lateef Elford-Alliyu drove into the Robins penalty box and fired a low cross which cannoned off the left-hand post and away to safety. The second half was a disappointment with neither side threatening in front of goal. Austin nearly made amends for his penalty miss in the last minute as he rattled the crossbar from a tight angle and Robins goalkeeper Phil Smith produced a fine save to keep out Adam McGurk in injury time.
