Tottenham 3-0 Fiorentina (Agg: 4-1): Mauricio Pochettino's side ease into last 16

Tottenham advanced to the last 16 of the Europa League after a comfortable 3-0 second-leg win over Fiorentina at White Hart Lane.

With the tie level at 1-1 after the first leg in Italy, Ryan Mason put Spurs ahead on aggregate in the 25th minute with a well-taken finish from Dele Alli's lay-off.

Erik Lamela doubled the advantage in the 63rd minute and Spurs' passage into the next round was secured when Gonzalo Rodriguez turned Kieran Trippier's cross into his own net.

Mauricio Pochettino's side will now look ahead to the draw for the last 16 on Friday, where they could meet Liverpool or Manchester United. Valencia, Borussia Dortmund and Sevilla are also potential opponents.

Whoever they face, they will be without Alli for the first leg on March 10 as he earned a one-game suspension after he was given a yellow card for diving.

Spurs were without Harry Kane against Fiorentina after he broke his nose in the FA Cup defeat to Crystal Palace, so Nacer Chadli started up front, with Hugo Lloris returning in goal after missing two games with a shoulder injury.

The hosts made a positive start as Trippier had appeals for a penalty waved away when his cross appeared to hit Marcos Alonso's arm, and Eric Dier headed wide from a corner.

Christian Eriksen then shot at Fiorentina keeper Ciprian Tatarusanu on the half-volley as the visitors struggled to make any impact at the other end.

Spurs made the breakthrough after 25 minutes as Ben Davies' ball forward was laid off by Alli for Mason, who controlled it well and then finished across the keeper after driving into the box.

The hosts looked comfortable with the lead and kept the Serie A side at bay, restricting them to few clear chances.

They did threaten early in the second half but Federico Bernardeschi was guilty of wasting a couple of promising opportunities, overhitting a pass and then slicing a shot wide.

Spurs then strengthened their grip on the tie when Lamela netted the second after 63 minutes, swiveling on a loose ball around the penalty spot and firing into the corner.

The goal seemed to deflate Fiorentina and any slim hopes of a comeback were snuffed out in the 81st minute when Gonzalo prodded Trippier's cross into his own net.

Mason and Eriksen went close to increasing the lead further but were denied by Tatarusanu.
